Navy Salute Sydney 1988
Navy Salute Sydney 1988
from A$350.00
1988, Sydney celebrated Australia's Bicentenary by inviting 60 warships 17,000 sailors and 15 nations to the wharves of Woolloomooloo to celebrate Australia's Bicentenary.
This was my assignment for London Sunday Telegraph Magazine
'Love was in the air'. Dial A Sailor meant that anyone could invite a sailor or an admiral out for Sunday lunch, to their outback property, others were more intimate invitations. The hospitality was overwhelming.
This sailor from the battleship USS Missouri found love in a hamburger bar at Kings Cross late into the night.
